He isn't thinking wedding bells. -By Sincerely C

After watching the movie “Timer” with Emma Caulfield (who plays Oona), I Sat there and pitied my past love life, and somehow wished there was an actual device to predict when I will meet “the one”. Then I thought about it (spoiler alert) and decided what If I was like Steph (Oona’s Step Sister) ; and had a timer since I was fourteen which told me I will meet my soul mate when I am 43 (wtf???!!!) Once I came back to reality and realized this is just another damn lovey dovey chick flick, I started thinking.

One of my friends (we are going to call her Francine) was in a serious relationship for five years, and always so envious of all her single friends (myself included). I explained to “Francine” the grass isn’t greener on the other side and how many women are out at bars and clubs trying to meet their soul mates (SIDE NOTE: Who the hell actually meets their soul mate at a bar???!!).

“Francine” really should have broken it off with her boyfriend 3 years ago, but of course she thought he was “the one” and ignored the obvious signs that he wasn’t. Needless to say (but I’m going to say it anyway) he broke up with her. Most women have this dream of the big diamond ring, the wedding, the husband, 2 ½ kids, and living in a colonial style house with blue shutters, a red door with a tire swing hanging from the big oak tree out front! Well I got news for you! Your “prince charming”, which you met at the bar, (HA!), has got different plans.

The point I’m trying to make (hopefully I made it) is that unlike the movie “Timer”, or any other chick flick nonsense, you don’t have to necessarily have one true love. You can have many loves (hence the massive divorce rates). You just have to both have similar plans, and mind set. And most likely the guy that sat down next to you at the bar that’s buying you a double shot of patron [[WARNING WARNING]] isn’t thinking wedding bells.

Disclaimer: “Francine” did not meet her boy toy at a bar…it was a diner.
